Missouri Penguins Enjoy 'Morning Of Fine Art' At Local Museum

It’s no surprise
the penguins prefer
Caravaggio
to Monet, his
brooding, moody
chiaroscuro, tenebroso
more evocative, more relatable,
coming as they do from
such stark circumstances;
no surprise they resent
impressionism’s comparative optimism.
It took a pandemic
to earn them their break,
and yet they go gallery to gallery
in their dapper dress,
observing without comment
while we watch them
from our screens
as they think,
who’s the lucky duck now?
